You will know if you are playing on Hardcore if you no longer have the option to restart checkpoints or lower the difficulty. Once you've completed the game on hard, start a new campaign on Hardcore. Hardcore difficulty is only unlocked after first completing the campaign on hard difficulty. Step 2 (Complete the campaign on the Hardcore difficulty setting):
